Displaced Homemaker / Single Parent Program.
Shifting from the role of homemaker to the workplace or facing the responsibilities of single parenthood can be challenging. Tulsa Tech’s Displaced Homemaker/Single Parent Program helps people in this transitional time develop independence and gain the skills necessary to become economically self-sufficient.
People who are eligible for this comprehensive program include individuals who have been primarily a homemaker, and become separated, divorced, widowed, or whose spouse becomes disabled. Also eligible are single parents who have never married but have custody of a child or children, and single pregnant women.
Once in the program, our professional counselors will help you assess and evaluate your interests, skills, strengths and weaknesses in order to guide you to the right educational and training pathway. They will also provide current information on employment possibilities and technical training, which is available through full-time programs. Personal counseling is available in addition to career counseling. In addition, you may be able to receive financial assistance covering tuition, books and supplies.
