Transportation, Distribution and Logistics

The Transportation, Distribution and Logistics career cluster represents a critical sector of the U.S. economy. It encompasses the businesses and industry involved in planning, managing and moving people, materials and goods. Equally important is the maintenance of the equipment and vehicles used to achieve these transportation and logistical goals.

Because of Tulsa’s rich history in aviation, several pathways in this cluster are devoted to aerospace and aviation support services. Many others concentrate on preventive maintenance, servicing and refinishing of today’s sophisticated automobiles, heavy trucks, motorcycles and other power products.

If you are considering a career in transportation, distribution and logistics support services, you will benefit from a solid background in science and math, and an interest in hands-on work and craftsmanship.   • Aerospace Manufacturing Technology Composites/Sheet Metal
    The Certificate of Completion as an Aircraft Sheet Metal and/or Composites Technician provides you with the skills required to be an aircraft structural technician at a Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul facility (MRO) -- skills that are readily transferred to other industries as well.
  • Auto Preventive Maintenance Technology
    You will obtain the skills necessary to perform overall lubrication services, cooling system inspection and servicing, steering/suspension system inspection and servicing, and tire-related diagnosis, maintenance, and flat repair.
  • Automotive Service Tech
    Tulsa Tech’s National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation (NATEF) certified program allows you to gain fundamental knowledge in the following specialty areas: (1) Brakes, (2) Steering and Suspension, (3) Electrical and Electronic Systems, (4) Engine Performance, (5) Heating and Air Conditioning and alternative fuels.
  • Automotive Refinishing
    Tulsa Tech's Automotive Refinishing Technology program takes repair through to the refinished vehicle. In accordance with ASE, you will learn shop safety, substrate topcoat preparation, refinishing abrasives and spray gun nomenclature.
  • Aviation Maintenance Technology
    The aviation industry offers attractive positions for skilled, certified technicians who can repair, maintain and inspect aircraft. Tulsa Tech’s Aviation Maintenance Technology (AMT) program is second to none in course content and instructional facilities.
  • Collision Repair
    Led by a skilled professional and using procedures and standards of the Inter-Industry Conference on Automotive Collision Repair (I-CAR), you will work in a state-of-the-art facility to perfect techniques on live-work projects.
  • Medium & Heavy Duty Truck Service Technology
    Led by experienced professionals, you will study electricity, electronics, power trains, suspension and steering, brakes, diesel engines, preventive maintenance and heavy-equipment systems, all within the framework of Automotive Service Excellence certification standards.
  • Motorcycle/Power Products Technology
    You will study safety, tools, measurement, and engine principles as well as repair aspects of fuel, electrical and drive systems common to lawn and garden equipment, ATVs and motorcycles.
  • Private Pilot Ground School
    Tulsa Tech's Private Pilot Ground School program is for secondary students who wish to explore their interests in aviation while gaining a much keener insight into safely operating an aircraft.
